How
TEAM’s Special Medical Needs Program (SMNP) helps shelter
animals
With TEAM’s financial support, the county shelter
works with members of the Sacramento veterinary community and individuals
to help shelter animals who are ill, injured and victims of crisis.
Animals who have been traumatized by disaster incidents such as
flood and fire, who have been confiscated by law enforcement as
evidence for pending investigation, who are being held at the shelter
because their families are in domestic crisis, and who are victims
of abuse and neglect are all beneficiaries of TEAM’s financial
help and support.
Because the veterinary care and housing of these animals
can be long-term and expensive, TEAM’s Special Medical Needs
Program is an invaluable shelter resource. It enables animals in
physical need and emotional distress to receive the care they need,
with the ultimate goal of making them well and adoptable.
The community’s support of TEAM and the
SMNP makes specialized medical care that might otherwise not be
possible available to shelter animals. |
